[NU Sports] d-back nightmare

Lots of good points here on this matter. I'll add two:

1) The world's best d-backs need a pass rush and NU
rarely has one. Since 2000, when Dwayne Missouri was a
fine rusher, as I see it, NU has had one d-line sack
threat: Loren Howard. Maybe Clark, a liitle. I've had
many coaches tell me the hardest athletes for a team
at any level to find are stud d-linemen. It may be
that NU is not able to get the top players at d-line
after Michigan, Ohio State, etc., have taken theirs --
I don't know. But I do know that the pass defense will
struggle until NU generates a rush.

2) Anybody think the fact that the d-back coach has
anything to do with this? I have yet to see any
evidence that our old friend Jerry Brown is a
competent football coach. If we're going to credit
Fitz for the LB play, as we should, then it seems fair
to blame Brown at least in part for poor d-back play.
