Remember - picks are due by kickoff tomorrow. Here are
my picks for the week ...
Big Ten
-------
* PENN STATE 24, Central Michigan 10
PSU's 3-0, but we don't know much about the Nits yet.
* MICHIGAN 42, Eastern Michigan 14
Lloyd blew another one in September last week but it's
the EMUs who will pay for it.
* MINNESOTA 44, Florida Atlantic 16
Run Goldie Run! Maybe the Vikes can borrow UM's
running game for a week ... or their weak schedule.
* CALIFORNIA 51, California 6
Welcome back to earth, Zookies.
* INDIANA 19, Kentucky 17
I'd normally say that this is the Hoosiers' call back
to earth ... and I know they struggled to beat
Nicholls State ... but I smell an upset from Hoeppner
here for the barrel.
* NOTRE DAME 23, Michigan State 21
I'm tempted to go upset here too ... but Weiss and
company have burned me twice already. They're still
not a top 10 team, though.
* IOWA 33, Northern Iowa 7
Like EMU, NIU is a sacrificial lamb this week to an
angry (and embarassed) in-state rival.
* PURDUE 17, Arizona 13
Could be a dangerous trip to the desert for the
Boilers, but Purdoooooo survives.
* OHIO STATE 34, San Diego State 3
This week, Tressel goes for TDs instead of FGs ... a
week too late, though.
* WISCONSIN 49, North Carolina 31
Bucky gets a scare for a half, but the cheese spread
offense continues to light up the scoreboard.
National
--------
* FLORIDA 21, Tennessee 17
Urban knows how to make Gator fans happy ... and the
Vols are overrated anyway.
* ALABAMA 13, South Carolina 10
Great game, but Spurrier comes up just short again.
* MIAMI 26, Clemson 23
The Tigers luck runs out as an angry Canes squad
storms Death Valley.
* FLORIDA STATE 26, Boston College 12
The Eagles may upset someone in the ACC this year, but
not yet. Noles roll up north.
* UCLA 24, Oklahoma 17
Looked like a bad matchup for the Bruins a couple
weeks ago, but the Sooners are awfully human now.
And off the board ...
* ARIZONA STATE 42, Northwestern 31
I thought we might be able to sneak out the upset if
ASU had held on to beat LSU and we on a high and
looking ahead to $C, but the late collapse last week
will get the Devils angry and they outscore the Cats.
Hope I'm wrong:).
GO CATS!!!
