-- Zips first of many cupcakes for Boilers this year
* Penn State 17, Cincinnati 7
-- Still a sluggish O, but defense carries Nits
* Minnesota 45, Colorado State 21
-- Gophers have a dandy of a ground game and roll at
home
* Michigan State 52, Hawaii 35
-- Sparty gets revenge for last year's slip -- plus,
no home-island refs this time
* Iowa 24, Iowa State 3
-- Hawks finally pull away from in-state pests
* Indiana 23, Nicholls St. 10
-- Hoosiers 2-0! Hoosiers 2-0! Enjoy it while it
lasts.
* Michigan 27, Notre Dame 17
-- No Wanny to help out Weiss this time as Irish come
back to reality at the Big House
* Illinois 31, San Jose State 20
-- Illini 2-0 as well! Again, no Pasadena parties yet
* Wisconsin 49, Temple 16
-- The Cheese Spread Offense working well for Badgers
-- with woeful D, could they be like NU 2000?
* Ohio State 20, Texas 17
-- Could be the game of the year ... great talent on
both offenses and plenty of speed on D. I'll go with
Tressel over Mack Brown any day and Bucks at home.

National

* Cal 26, Washington 20
-- Huskies and Willingham come close again but fall
* Clemson 28, Maryland 24
-- Terps almost lost to Navy while Tigers got a big
win over ATM
* Arizona State 24, LSU 16
-- Great game, but in the desert, ASU pulls the upset
and awaits a visit from USC next month
* Georgia 30, South Carolina 21
-- OK, I believe in the Dawgs now ... Spurrier will
find that UGa isn't as easy to beat minus cocktails
* Alabama 24, Southern Miss 10
-- No semi-annual upset by the Eagles this time as the
folks in Alabama know that the Tide will be rolling
back to a big bowl this year

And off the board ...
* Northwestern 35, Northern Illinois 31
-- Should be a good game with Chicagoland's Pizza
Trophy at stake, but Cats outscore Huskies and hang on
-- I hope! Should be a fun one.
