No, no, no--I'm way in favor of the crowd making noise. It has been FAR
too quiet at Ryan this year. In fact, if you've been to a game this
year, you've probably heard me yelling, and just didn't know it.

What I'm opposed to is gimmicky noise makers. They're just an admission
of failure: "Hey, we're way too pathetic to make enough racket on our
own so we have to sit here like idiots clapping two stiff balloons
together to try to make up for it."

Niether should thundersticks--those are exactly the sort of places that
don't NEED gimmicky noisemakers!!!!

(I'm sure someone will now tell me that thundersticks have in fact
invaded PSU or Michigan games--and I will just have to shake my head in
disappointment).
