Make Noise, yes. But good noise, not bad, shrill, annoying noise. 

Thundersticks == painful and annoying. 

49,000 yelling in unison = cool.

Yes, but I would contend thundersticks==marketing gimmick for some
sponsor, not school spirit.

But it wasn't anywhere near as loud as it was, say, in '96 against
Michigan. Repeat after me:

Thundersticks==annoying, shrill, ear damage. 

Real crowd roar==real intimdation.

Accept no substitute.
