What other NU alums became MLB managers or head coaches in the pros
(NBA, AFL/NFL, NHL)?

--Paddy Driscoll, NFL (Bears) - - he was a Hall of Fame NFL player and
also played major league baseball for the Cubs!

Who else, if anybody?

NU, of course, has had non-alum head coaches & assistant coaches who
went on to become pro head coaches (examples: Lou Saban, Dennis Green,
Jeff Bzdelik, Kevin O'Neill). George Steinbrenner was an NU football
assistant coach who became a pro team owner - not just of the Yankees,
but of the American Basketball League's Cleveland Pipers (they were not
at the level of the NBA, but had many interesting aspects:

eague_1961-63.htm)

Of interest, though he didn't fit the bill...

NU's baseball coach from 1947-60, Fred Lindstrom, was a Hall of Fame
major league player, but neither an NU alum nor a manager in the big
leagues (his son, Chuck, played for NU & made it to the majors) - -

Parting notes...

Jay Hook achieved notoriety with the original Mets:

A site that claims to list all NU players who made it to the majors:

One of the great baseball quotes came from George McKinnon, the longtime
NU baseball coach. He said, after an opponent scored a double-figure
rout of the Cats (not a rare occurrence), "their balls had eyes."
