[NU Sports] Back from the Cow Pasture

Hearing the "1,2,3,4,FIRST DOWN!" thing was strange. Very early in the
game I turned to the PU alum friend that I was with and said, "Do you do
that every time?" "Yep!" she enthusiastically responded. I said, "You do
realize that we're the 116th-ranked defense in Division I-A? It's going to
get old really quickly!" And it did.

And the damn whistle? I was still stuck in a concession line when the
second half started (I left the stands late because I wanted to see the
band). It just happened to be the concession stand that is directly below
the scoreboard in the south end zone. The one that is directly below the
damn whistle. Three-quarters of the people in line, including those in
black and gold, jumped, and the two toddlers with their mom in front of me
in line started crying. If you're going to do something like that, put it
on top of the press box, or next to an existing loudspeaker, not someplace
where you end up making a sizable portion of your fans soil themselves.
