Pete Carroll on ESPN after the game said that he wanted Leinhart to go for
the TD and gave him the signal to make his own decision.  He then made the
signal to spike the ball when Leinhart was not looking at him just to try to
fake out ND.  It worked - that and Bush's push.  What a great way for ND to
lose.

First I got to thinking USC was the luckiest team in football, then I
looked at the tape again:  They faked ND out of their jockstraps with
the QB acting like he was going to spike the ball then going left
instead.  

Gutsy call, I wonder if it came from the bench, was a prepared play,
or just something the USC QB made up on the field?
