Random thoughts from watching the TV coverage (in
chronological order) ...

- Play action! I LOVE play action! We used it last
week and again for a big TD here. Nice call! 7-0!

- SOOOOO close to a couple picks on Purdue's first two
drives, so at least we're getting closer.:)

- Let the track meet begin ... 4th down is even worse
than 3rd down for our defense.

- Right call on the replay - the announcers kept
calling it a TD and I'm screaming "touchback!
touchback!" with the fumble.

- Looks like Purdue is really focusing on TS. Gotta
get that running game going soon.

- Great 3rd down scramble by Baz ... bad drop by Kim.
That was a first down right in the hands. DOH! That
was one early chance by the O to put some distance and
go up two scores wasted ... hopefully it won't hurt
us.

- Can we get Purdue backed up BEHIND their 40 to start
a drive? Sheesh.

- Nice pick - thanks Kirsch. We really need to win the
turnover battle today and gotta capitalize on this TO.

- When Baz and the O get clicking, it's a lot of fun
to watch. Still need to get Sutton going on the
ground, but nice call to get him involved via the
pass.

- We have a fullback? Cool! Next you'll tell me we
have a tight end! In any case, GREAT DRIVE and
TOUCHDOWN -- excellent O-line protection all drive!
14-0!

- Already you see Baz spreading it around -- both TDs
were not to our top 5 receivers (Philmore, Herbert,
Fields, Thompson and Sutton) and Lane is moving up on
Baz's favorite list quickly as well. Nice to see the
depth and that Baz is looking at all his options (6
different receivers in the first quarter alone).

- Some nice hustle plays on D - but we're still too
inconsistent to put together three stops in a row. At
least it was just a FG. 14-3.

So a promising start - the O is still clicking and the
D is hustling ... but I still think we'll need 40+ to
win this game, so keep going O!
