If the Heisman is the goal--and TS will certainly now be among the
"mentioned" going into next season--then Coach Walker has to stay, as he understands
running backs better than most Head Coaches, having been one himself, and he
recruited our frosh stud. The last thing Tyrell needs is to have the rug
pulled out from under him with a new HC and new Offensive Coordinator. In any
event, barring a collapse from here to the end of the season, RW probably saved
his job with today's upset. The team played well and played hard and played
with heart and spirit, although the lack of a pass rush is just impossible
to overlook. We gave Stocco enough time to read the Yellow Pages on most
plays when he dropped back.

Meanwhile, Mr. Basanez stepped up in class today and may have gotten
himself into contention in next Spring's NFL Draft. He can throw and he can run
and he can think and react under pressure. I think a lot of teams could at
least envision him as a decent back-up, although at 6'2" and 215, he is not the
classic NFL QB size in these days of behemoths behind center.
