Not many things shock me in the Big Ten anymore - that
game in Happy Valley was a total shocker. Either we
awakened a sleeping giant last week and PSU's frosh
got a boost from the comeback or they're a heck of a
lot better than they looked in Evanston -- we ran on
'em and Minny couldn't. Alas, we don't play the
Gophers this year.

The Big Ten this year is looking wild and
unpredictable -- again, 29 points may not be enough to
win (it wouldn't have on Saturday in any Big Ten game)
-- we're more wide open and offensive ... there are
few defenses that look respectable so far in the
league.

Right now, I still think OSU is the clear class of the
conference -- save for a rare coaching collapse in the
Texas game, they'd be #2 right now and headed to
Pasadena (still, with other losses, they're #6 and
#3/4 play each other and #5 has a brutal road as well
... so they just gotta hope Texas or SC slips and they
win out -- but it's tough to see SC or Texas losing
before Pasadena). The Bucks should be a better gague
of how good PSU is with that prime time thriller in
Happy Valley next week.

And Michigan ain't dead yet - especially with Hart.
Too bad Lloyd clamps up against the Irish each year in
September ... and speaking of an Irish choke, what
happened to Purdooooo? Yikes!

As I said after PSU, I think we have a chance to win
every game left on our schedule save for the trip to
Columbus ... what I have trouble seeing us do is put
together a streak of wins against a schedule that now
includes 8 teams that have been ranked in the polls
already this year. Every week will be a war.

I like our chances against the Badgers. We have to
stop their run and make 'em throw to beat us (which
was kinda our plan vs. PSU and that backfired), but as
long as we hold on to the ball and score on O, it
could be a fun shootout. One game at a time.

GO CATS!!!
