I seem to remember Randy Walker making a statement once, and I can't quote it
exactly, but it was something like...

I'll coach here at Northwestern as long as they'll have me.

He also told me once, as we were walking off the practice field, that he was
tired of .500 seasons and was looking to win more. That was last summer.

Anyway, I also am getting bored with the "fire Walker" stuff.

I guess some would hope for a Charlie Weis type coach who would come in and make
NU BCS eligible his first year. You understand that validates the former coach's
recruiting, the very reason given for replacing RW with Vanderlinden.

I, for one, would be happy to see RW's contract run out, and let this debate
rage in 2007, but we should be back on our up cycle, last year's recruiting
class will be Seniors, and who knows...
