Not that you all do not know it, but the fact is that Northwestern  
University has chosen not to position itself as an athletic institution.   The message 
could be made to the Chicago and national media that NU is serious  about 
athletics but that would p. o. a lot of faculty.  This attitude  is out of date 
and counter productive IMHO. Our AD, RW and various marketers are  probably 
champing at the bit stuck in their mouth by history and an  anti-jock mentality 
among the f*ckelty (sic).
 
 
 



My guess is that there is no half-hour or longer coach's show  for 
Northwestern football because either the contract with WGN is too  
restrictive or the market is such that NU couldn't PAY stations to  
carry it.

Surely we have enough media-savvy people on this list to  find out the
real story here.
