[NU Sports] Terps go down...again

I had thought the same thing while watching the game.
It bothered me unbelievably when Maryland promised Vanderlinden 5
years, and Vandy said he'd win the ACC crown at Maryland in five years,
and then the Twerps yanked him after year #4. Friedgen then takes
Vandy's kids and goes 10-1 in Vandy's "fifth" year. Glad to see the
Twerps are hurting. I hope there is a lot of second-guessing going on
there.
It also made me aware that the kids Joe Pa is winning with are kids
that more than likely were recruited by Vanderlinden.
I've always wondered if Vandy would like to come back to Northwestern,
but with Walker as HC and Fitz as HC-in-waiting, I don't see this
happening. I don't see Vandy taking the DC spot here and then moving
on in 5 years. I also don't see Walker calling in an "equal" to be his
assistant -- too much opportunity to "compare" the 95 season to now,
too much competition in his own domain. I see Vandy as HC here, but
not DC.

As an NU fan, and one who fondly remembers Ron Vanderlinden, it was
good to see
Maryland and Ralph Friedgen fall to NCSU this afternoon. Thats two
straight
years of 5-6 and missing a bowl game for Friedgen, after three very
good years
(31-8 his first three years). It always felt like Friedgen 'stole' the
glory
with the players Vandy recruited. Now that it's his own recruits in
the system
(years 4 and 5 of the Friedgen era), the results are turning back to
luke-warm,
or worse.
Vandy is currently coaching the LB's at Penn State. The 92-96 defenses
he
coached at NU ought to be sufficient to land him another DC spot (if he
wanted
it). Does anybody know if he has sought out a DC role, or is he
waiting for
Paterno to move on (maybe another decade ?)
