This is excellent analysis from Mark Murphy.
I believe our chances of winding up in the Music City Bowl are slim.
It appears that the Sun Bowl wants to take us, as suggested in Murphy's
article.
Also, I haven't seen it posted to the list, but the Sun Bowl appears to
have narrowed its sights to Iowa and Northwestern. On the Sun Bowl's
website (http://www.sunbowl.com), they used to have Iowa, Northwestern,
and Minnesota highlighted in the Big Ten standings. They now just have
Iowa and Northwestern highlighted. It's not clear that they're
interested in Iowa, however, as Murphy suggests in his article. I also
read in the Tribune today that the Sun Bowl had indicated before the
NU-Iowa game that it intended to take the winner of that game (if
available). So it appears that the Sun Bowl plans to take
Northwestern, unless we're selected by the Alamo Bowl, in which case it
would take Iowa.
That means to me that we're either going to the Alamo Bowl (should Iowa
State be the Big XII team in that bowl and OSU gets an at-large BCS
bid) or otherwise the Sun Bowl.
I guess I once again won't be using those Nashville plane tickets that
I already purchased (would be the 2d year in row that I made that
mistake) (fully changeable with no charge, however, on Southwest).
