Hmmm, I may have commented on the fact that our marketing sucks in a post  on 
"Ryan field fans" but no matter. Yes, as a so called Kellogg marketing guru  
(and philosophy CAS '71) who was told by Phil Kotler that I was pretty  smart 
(such modesty) let me say that our marketing message is either  muddled or non 
existent. We seem to market ourselves as a lousy team that has  made good.  
That is a negative marketing message that recalls bad stuff.  Never good. It is 
like Tylenol saying "no longer poison." Maybe better  "stops headaches."
We should make the case that we are the shining beacon of academia in the  
big ten, hell in the top 25 this year, and pound that message.  It may not  fill 
Dyche stadium, another dumb marketing move to rename the traditional  stadium 
without tearing it down and building a 70,000 seat on the lakefill with  
Pat's and the other 2 billion $ raised in the latest money grab. I do not  have 
all the answers but this season and indeed the last 10 years should get the  
"loser" stigma off our back and bring in the fans.  Good Ganesha, look at  the 
Cubs.
