[NU Sports] No football bias here

I read the article and I don't see any football bias here and I would have
handled this incident for any person in the same way.

If we read a similar article published in the Columbus Dispatch about AJ
Hawk, would we be as generous in saying boys will be boys?  How would we be
characterizing Tressel and OSU if they also concluded that Hawk should still
play?

I agree with the article and the decision.  It was a stupid thing to do and
McGarigle took full responsibility.  But he has been charged with a crime
(albeit a misdemeanors) and will likely plead guilty.  So I have to admit
that I am not completely comfortable with the fact that he is still playing.
Wasn't there a somewhat similar incident of attempted house invasion a year
or so ago where a couple of non-starters got kicked off the team?  If I
recall the incident, it was also alcohol related and involved a player
attempting to break into an apartment in Evanston because he thought it was
his own.  Doesn't this smack of the same football bias that we
self-righteously accuse others of?
