It is commonly believed that Northwestern chose 'nwu.edu' because it
couldn't have 'nu.edu'.  The record suggests that was never the case.

Even though there are some Northwestern alums who are part of the 
senior management team at ESPN (some of whom may even read this list),
I don't expect ESPN to change from using 'NWU' any time soon.  

As long as they continue to televise most or all of our games, they can 
put whatever they want in the scoreboard bug on ESPN!

I was able to watch all but one Northwestern game this year, there were 
FOUR Nebraska games that were either not televised at all or were only 
available through PPV at a price I considered WAY too high for games that 
turned out to be rather uninteresting.
