Keep your fingers crossed that we don’t get South Carolina as our bowl opponent.

If we do, odds are that such a game would result in our being humiliated like we were in the Alamo bowl.

Spurrier v.Walker would be no contest!

It would be pitting coaching-excellence against coaching-mediocrity. Give Spurrier three weeks to prepare for Randy, and things likely will be ugly. Ugh, ugh, and ugh!

Hopefully, this will not come to pass, because we play some other team, or I’m all wet in how excellent a coach I think Spurrier is, and how excellent a coach I believe Walker is not.

Anyway, if this matchup does come about, and the game is anything but an easy win for Spurrier, please verbally clobber me following the game. (I even expect some of you to do so right now.) I’ll put on my thick-skin suit.

But, but, and but, I emphatically hope I’m wrong, wrong, and wrong!

That is, that in such a match up, mediocrity vs excellence will be a contest. After all, we do have Baz. But even having one of the best Qbs in the country, overcoming Spurrier’s coaching excellence will take a lot of help from lady luck.

And getting help from her is one of RW’s strong suits. I first witnessed his uncannily good fortune on September 16, 1995. By the stroke of an errant long snap, he beat one of our best teams ever. And since then, time and time again, he has pulled off dazzling wins that arguably, her grace played a substantial role in.

Nevertheless, that does not make RW an excellent coach! His seven year losing record at NU (445??) screams otherwise.

That’s the forest!

Frank Loomis

P.S. Kindly don’t begrudge me too much, because I love you all.
