[NU Sports] re: my wish

   John and list: when I wrote that I would like to see NU play Colorado, it 
was no slap at Walker, and no plug for JB.  The game would make for good 
theatre, and looks very competitive on paper.
   John: While I admire your passion of NU football, your intense dislike of 
Walker after a 7-4 season is perplexing.  Walker recruited Baz, Wright, 
Herron, Streif, McGarigle, Kustok, Howard...do I need to go on?  To say he rode GB's 
coat-tails is flat out wrong. Keep in mind, GB's flirtations with Texas, ND, 
Mizzou, etc.  sent alot of players packing, including John Navarre.  We flat 
out sucked in 1998; GB's last year.  While it's proper we recognize GB for his 
accomplishments, he truly created the monster that ate him.
   I suggest we take a page out of Kansas St. and Virgina Tech's book.  They 
had their chance to sack Snyder and Beamer, even 5-7 years after their arrival 
for not acheiving more than 8-4, 6-5, etc.  But those schools also recognized 
history as well as the fact that their depth and system became more 
entrenched with every passing year.
   I like beating Ohio St. , Penn St. and Michigan.  So does Walker, who's 
accomplished these feats. And I believe he will many times more if allowed by 
Mark Murphy.
