I don't believe that we would be eligible for an at-large bid because
the Big Ten will not fill all its bowl slots. To get an at-large bid,
one of two things has to happen. You have to be an independent (Navy
will assuredly get a bid - likely to the bowl in San Francisco whatever
it's called these days) or your conference has to have filled all of its
slots and have bowl eligible teams left over. We won't be in that
position, even with OSU in the BCS. The Big Ten has 7 bowl affiliations
and only 7 bowl eligible schools. If OSU gets a BCS big, the Motor City
Bowl will have to go to an at-large team for to fill the Big Ten slot.
That's a long answer to a simple no.
From the looks of things, I would guess that we will be going to the
Sun, as the Alamo will most likely want those Iowa winnebagos. Outback
wants Michigan and we won't fall to Nashville. The one thing that
mitigate against the Sun is a victory by Arizona State over Arizona next
week. That makes ASU bowl eligible. I don't think they would be high
enough in the Pac-10 to reach the Alamo, particularly if OSU goes to the
BCS and not Oregon, but if they do, the Sun Bowl would probably not want
a rematch. The most likely pairing is NU against the winner of the Big
Game tonight between Cal and Stanford. It still gives us a match of
brains, so we get a good replacement for Vandy.
