Terrific post Stephen. Walker took the 2nd youngest team in the Big 10 this
year to a tie for third without even the benefit of a game against Indiana.
Absolutely terrific job.

Clue me in then - why? Because he's taken NU to more
bowl games than any other coach in school history?
Because Miami is a mid-MAC team now and lost another
coach (a pretty good one as well judging by IU's
performance this year)? Why are they glad they lost
him again?
Could it be that this parent who has come up time and
time again was just bitter about playing time or just
trying to be optimistic about the future with a new
coach?
And why start a baseless rumor that Walker sees Fitz
as a threat - Fitz has zero coordinator experience --
he's not a head coach threat to anybody in division
I-A right now. He's a head coach for the future, but
right now knows he has a lot to learn and is in the
right place to learn it. Oh, and how did that work out
for our old OC at OU? We replaced him with Dunbar and
have continued to roll up the yardage.
Sheesh - a season where no one expected us to be close
to .500 has turned into a bowl season. And we spend
all week leading up to the game with our in-state
rival talking about THIS? Not where we're going? Not
Illinois and Zook? Not great NU-UI games? Not the
season we've had? Just replacing the coach?!?!
Unbelievable.
I for one am looking forward to the Illinois game and
a tough matchup against rivals who are playing better
lately under Zook since the PSU embarassment, and also
to keeping Sweet Sioux in Evanston, finishing the
season 7-4 with a 5-3 mark in the Big Ten and heading
to the post season for just the sixth time in school
history. And hopefully to even brighter days ahead
than the last three solid years from Coach Walker and
the Cats!
GO CATS!!!
