[NU Sports] Change the coaches?

RW had a couple of schools in his contract at Miami of OH that let him out if
those jobs were offered.

One of them was Northwestern, I suspect another was North Carolina.

Walker apparently liked his time here as an assistant and was convinced [and
convinced the powers that be at the time] that NU could field a consistent
winner, and indeed said when he was hired that he hoped to field a national
champ. The board in the big meeting hall where he does the weekly press conf,
and the signing day conference leads off with "Be a Northwestern Grad, followed
by win a National Championship." At least it used to.

If you don't believe me, I have pictures...[attached]

Anyway, from time to time I hear rumors that RW has been approached but I never
hear any more about it. I think he's very happy in Evanston and enjoys his
players and the life here.

When he goes recruiting, he's got a world class airport to fly from, and can get
almost anywhere in 3 hours.

His kids graduated from NU, and his dog likes walking on the lakefront [so we've
been told]

I wonder if a lot of the dislike towards RW is actually a reflection of a
dislike by many alums towards the man who hired him - Rick Taylor?

Hmmmmm
