Not exactly, I don't think.  I think the conference makes a big 
difference.  For all the talk about the MAC these days, the Big Ten is 
clearly the superior conference.

If you win all your games at Northwestern, you'll win a national 
championship (almost, but not quite, for certain).

If you win all your games at Miami, you'll finish in the top 10.

In my opinion, there is a coach out there (Walker, maybe) who would be 
satisfied with a career job at Northwestern if he could develop a 
winning program.  A coach at a MAC school will always want to move up 
to a bigger conference with greater potential.
