[NU Sports] OSU game highlighted Randy Walker's shortcomings

C'mon Roy, you can't dismiss them that easily. The directors cup only
accrues points in a maximum of 10 men's & 10 women's sports anyway.

Last year, while we were thrilling to our first national championship in any
sport in 50 years, "Stanford won...national championships in women's
volleyball and women's tennis and was the runner-up in men's water polo and
men's swimming. The Cardinal placed eight additional teams in the top 10."

My point (SjT) in all this is not to say that NU tolerates mediocrity. On
the contrary, NU becoming a top-tier football program is going to require a
lot more than just expecting excellence and finding the right head coach.
The cards are simply stacked against a school like NU or Stanford in more
ways than we can imagine.

NOW, if we were to form our own football conference with Stanford, Vandy,
Duke, Wake, Rice, and maybe a couple service academies, then the playing
field would be leveled significantly. But that's a discussion for another
day.
