Let me clarify a few things--If we were to find a coach who could
consistently win with the tough academic standards that we have, we would likely have to
pay a ton of money for he and his staff to retain them --(That is, they would
be considered top coaching prospects and likely hot commodities for major
programs where they would get waved a lot of money at them-to move -does this
sound familiar ?--read GB) I don't want us to be at the top of charts for
coaches' salaries.

If Basanez is in fact the key reason for two 5-3 years in Conf (hopefully !),
RW should get credit for recruiting him (or under his direction).

Us Techies such as Chuck can argue what is middle of the pack--6.7 out of 11
in my mind is middle of the pack--as it is in the middle third--but to each
their own--

While I am in no position to know, I strongly suspect NU did not pay out $16
MM --I assume we had some insurance which probably picked up a good portion of
it

But back to the underlying question--should NU keep RW or not ?--Well the
answer should be no if you think you can find someone who will do a better
job--hey I like the idea of Fitz down the road--exemplifies all of the wonderful
things NU athletics stand for--but tell me who do you think we could get right
now to improve our performance and be willing to pay his market value
?--Remember if they are that good, they are probably going to leave for either more
money or more opportunity to win soon after they become known.

Harry
