[NU Sports] Cats Win

The real concern with the lack of rebounding is that Lehigh lost of all of
their top line front men last year. We should have produced a bigger
advantage down low. Assistant Coach Paul Lee lives across the street from
me and I'm looking forward to gaining some insight this year.
By the way, NU basketball is popular enough now that the entire bottom bowl
is sold out with season ticket holders and team and conference tickets.

Subject: [NU Sports] Cats Win
The Basketball Cats opened the season with a win in Wyoming, beating Lehigh
61-59 behind Vedran's 25 points, including the go-ahead bucket with 12
seconds
left. I didn't listen to the game, but according to the accounts I've read,
Lehigh built a double-digit lead in the second half before the Cats battled
back.
As expected, Vedran lead the Cats in scoring. From the box score it appears
that Doyle had a good game with 14 points and 6 assists. Michael Thompson
was a
non-factor again, which is not a good sign for the future.
In a surprise to me, Seacat started over Jenkins, although both of them and
Hachad all played about the same number of minutes. Thompson only played 14
minutes, which may account for his lack of numbers. I don't know if that
was
due to his lack of conditioning in that he may still be recovering from
injury
or that he just wasn't playing well. Scott played 27 minutes, had 8 points
but
only 1 rebound. We need better rebounding out of the post if we are going
to
compete in the conference this year.
Tonight we take on Charlotte, which should prove a most difficult test.
Lutz is
an excellent coach and he has a team which should contend for the Atlantic
10
title this year, its first in the league. Th4 49er's best player is 6'8"
senior
forward Curtis Withers, who is a candidate for A-10 player of the year and
should give Doyle or Vedran all he can handle. A win over Charlotte would
be an
enormous boost at the beginning of the season, a marked change from last
year.
Go Cats!
