[NU Sports] Fort Worth?

I agree that it was an ugly display of football. I heard one of the OSU
players interviewed on the radio after the game and even he said he was
disappointed because NU looked a lot better on film.
This sort of game was my worst fear when the season started, with the added
weakness that Michigan exposed in our offense. If you can get us down
early, our offense becomes much easier to defend because it becomes more
predictable. Our defense is much improved over where I thought it would be.
When you're not getting much help from the offense or special teams,
however, it's hard for our defense to go out there and get pounded for four
quarters by their running game.
As far as bowls, we are in complete agreement. If we have a choice, we
should go to a bowl where we are favored to win, even if it is in Nome. If
our realistic choices are Tulsa, Tennessee, or Miami (OH), I pick a win in
Detroit over Miami.

Who says we would be the "favorite" at either Detroit or Nashville--or even
Ft. Worth? We lost a lot of respect as a result of Saturday's
debacle--witness the poll results that are now out. In the AP Poll, we
received exactly 1 vote, while in the Harris Interactive Poll and the USA
Today Poll we were completely shut out. Such luminaries as Iowa (8),
Nebraska (1), Stanford and Tulsa (1) received Harris votes, while Boise
State (1) and Ga. Tech (1) received USA Today votes. We basically fell off
the radar, and even a big win over the Illini will not change that
perception.
