[NU Sports] Doomsday scenario

Michigan is playing Ohio State at Ann Arbor. I think the Wolverines
will win that game.

Michigan State is playing Penn State at East Lansing. MSU needs to win
in order to become bowl-eligible. I think it's very possible that the
Spartans will fire up and play as they did in the early part of the
season. It would not be that great an upset if MSU wins that contest.

IF Michigan and Michigan State both win, two keys things will happen:

1. The Big Ten will not send a second team to one of the big BCS bowls
2. The Big Ten will then have eight bowl-eligbile teams, with only seven
slots assured.

The Motor City Bowl would probably want to have MSU as one of their
participants very much. And, what if the other six Big Ten bowl slots
are filled by the other bowl eligible teams? We would then be hoping to
get an at-large slot from one of the misfit bowls (such as the new
Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego).

In other words, it's not over until it's over. Go Cats! And, I guess,
go Penn State!
