Your problem in finding a good location for the games may be a reluctance to consider the other side of the Caldecott Tunnel. I live in Orinda, which borders Berkeley in the Hills and is on the other side of the tunnel. If you go to Walnut Creek, just a few miles east of Berkeley, there are several bars that have dozens of TVs and always show the NU games. Several of us meet up regularly at the Stadium Pub -- where most of the TVs are plasma and it has the added bonus of being owned by Chicago folks, so it is decorated with Chicago sports memorabilia and serves Chicago-style Vienna red hots for only $2. Also good in Walnut Creek is Crogan's, and they have the added advantage of a full breakfast for morning games.
Maybe we'll see you at one of these spots!
p.s. On Saturday mornings the tunnel is going 60 miles an hour in both directions, absolutely a breeze to go through.
