Slade had one bad punt (brutally bad, and it basically cost us a
touchdown--the old "bend not break" defensive scheme doesn't work very
well from 40 yards out), but the rest were actually good, and pretty
much what the coaches had in mind (I think).
Yes, they were low line drives, so they looked a bit ugly, but they
were directional away from the returners. According to the stats, Iowa
had one return, for 4 yards.
Our punting average was .1 better than Iowa's, even with that 19 yard
punt. Net punting was .2 worse than Iowas (our 1 yard return vs their 4
yard return).
