A nice national noon showdown in the Shoe ... does it
get any better for Cats fans? A win would do it.:) As
for the picks, standings should be out Friday (no
school on Veteran's Day!) but for now here's a
jam-packed week 11 slate ...

How good (and deep) is the SEC? Well, you have two
mega-games in the league this year featuring four
teams with a total of 4 losses on the year (and this
is in mid-November!). And they might not even be the
most interesting game in the league this year as the
old ball coach hosts his former school in a game with
big bowl implications. The Big Ten is deep, exciting
and one of the top two football conferences in the
country year in and year out -- but there's no doubt
the other one is the SEC. Take those three big games
and throw in two nifty Pac 10 showdowns and you have a
pretty big week of college action. Perfect for an away
game for the Cats, a couch and a remote. Pass the beer
nuts.

All picks due by kickoff Saturday.

MY PICKS
========
* PURDUE 34, Illinois 20 - Tempted to go upset but
that Illini defense is B-A-D.
* MICHIGAN 41, Indiana 14 - Wolverines warm up for the
Bucks by dashing Hoosier bowl hopes
* WISCONSIN 24, Iowa 20 - Bruiser of a game, but Camp
Randall bids a fond farewell to Barry
* MINNESOTA 35, Michigan St. 31 - Tough call - the
question is what team has quit on the season less?
---
* LSU 13, Alabama 9 - The Tide have a nice storybook
season, but the Tigers are the SEC's best team
* AUBURN 17, Georgia 7 - UGa drops another as Tigers
pounce on woulded Dawgs
* FLORIDA 28, South Carolina 23 - Good game, but
Gators smell SEC title game blood and don't want the
old coach to get into a better bowl than the new one
* USC 49, California 26 - No close call for the
Trojans in Berkeley this time
* UCLA 44, Arizona St. 38 - Dunno what happened to the
Bruins last week but they bounce back to avoid the Sun
Bowl.
* FLORIDA ST. 26, Clemson 10 - It'd be nice to see
Bobby lose again, but papa bounces back and beats up
his son

And off the board ...

* OHIO STATE 37, Northwestern 17 - I'd love to be
wrong, but I think OSU's speedy linebackers pose even
more problems than Michigans and their speedy WRs are
better than PSU's -- the result of that can't be good.
But I'd love to be wrong.

GO CATS!!! BEAT THE BUCKS!!!
