[NU Sports] genius or luck?

Speaking as a coach -
We would bench a kid for a series if he committed some horrible personal foul
penalty or got in a shoving match, etc. If I was running the offense on our
youth team, I'd probably sub out a running back who fumbled, we have the depth,
but our head guy doesn't do that.
RW does sit the kid down to contemplate the error of his ways, but he also puts
the kid back in after he's had time to think about it. And something you don't
want is a kid to come back in after a fumble and get boo'd something that also
happens too much lately. And you don't want to do what Switzer used to do - the
kids had to carry a football everywhere for a week, to class, to bed.
Something that has happened the last times Sutton has fumbled towards the end of
the game is that when he's returned he's been given the chance to score and he
has.
Jason and DA2 also didn't fumble much so you didn't see him sit those players,
however they've always pulled d-backs who missed an assignment [except Cole] and
Washington [D-Line] rotates his guys [except Barry C] in and out to talk with
them about their play, its one reason they're getting better week by week.
In practice, McGee will make a WR who fumbles after a good catch do various
things to get their mind on holding the ball. I saw one WR have to jog around
the indoor practice facility for about an hour during practice because he
dropped a pass over the middle. I don't remember who it was, but it got this
guy's attention.
Personally, I think RW sits the fumblee down so he can talk with the other
backups and coach Johns, etc., and get his focus back. I do know that former
running backs who become coaches have a strange thing about holding on to the
football. One I worked with used to get in a back's face when they fumbled in
practice. His line was "don't you drop my football," delivered only as a
football coach can.

But he has not hesitated to bench Sutton for a drive or
