[NU Sports] PIGSKIN PICKS - Reminder

Well, off to Evanston for the home finale after a long
week of class ... didn't get to the standings this
week. Sorry. But I also forgot to send out my picks
for the week. Remember to get yours in by kickoff
tomorrow.

Off the board first ...

* NORTHWESTERN 41, Iowa 31 -- The O returns and Baz
outscores Tate as the Cats rally to send out #14 and
#41 with the big finale they richly deserve. The
rested Hawks and Ferentz worries me ... but the O
can't have two bad games in a row, can they?

As for the games this week ...

* OHIO STATE 45, Illinois 3 -- The Illini D can't stop
anyone and the Bucks' O may be heating up for Michigan
and a Citrus Bowl battle.

* MICHIGAN STATE 37, Purdue 30 -- I really wanted to
pick Purdue to pull the upset and screw up MSU bowl
hopes (you just feel Tiller will nip someone and I
thought it'd be Wisky) but Purdue's O is too shaky.
MSU keeps those Motor City hopes alive!

* INDIANA 23, Minnesota 20 -- Hoosier bowl hopes get a
shot in the arm! Minny's a bad road team and coming
off a tough loss. The Hoosiers are tougher than folks
think. Hoeppner has done a heck of a job.

* PENN STATE 24, Wisconsin 19 -- Big game for a BCS
bid in Happy Valley (since both beat OSU in
tiebreakers) ... UW's physical style has given PSU
trouble ... but they won't win on Senior Day in Happy
Valley as JoePa's squad confirms their BCS status.

* VIRGINIA TECH 27, Miami 10 -- The more impressive
the wins get for VT, the more scared Texas should get
of how pathetic the Big XII is this year. Miami's got
a great D but a shaky O ... and Blacksburg under the
lights can be a bad place for a nervous O or punter.

* OREGON 31, California 22 -- If the Quacks win this
one at home, a 10-1 season and a trip to San Diego is
looking more likely.

* NOTRE DAME 35, Tennessee 10 -- Will the Irish ever
beat a top 25 team? Phat Phil and the Vols try and
pound the ball when the key to beating the Irish is
passing. I really, REALLY hope I'm wrong.

* COLORADO 42, Missouri 38 -- Somebody has to win the
North, right? And that ole rascal Barnett is there
again to take advantage of the mess.

* TEXAS A&M 35, Texas Tech 31 -- The Raiders are
overrated. The Aggies may be the only hope to stop the
Horns, but that's looking less and less likely too.

* FLORIDA STATE 21, NC State 9 -- The Noles' D holds
the Pack to field goals and that's the difference.
