What's the deal here? Northwestern softball is the #9 seed nationally. Yet we
get sent to unseeded Notre Dame for the Regional. But five other seeded teams
had to go on the road for a Regional. Okay, we're one of the unfortunate six.
But now it's official; we play unseeded DePaul in the Super Regional at a
neutral site - University of Illinois at Chicago. Is there something wrong with
our home field (Drysdale Field?)? Can it not accommodate a Super Regional.
Surely, temporary bleachers could have been erected if that was the issue. Only
one other higher ranked seed had to go on the road for a Super Regional - poor
#2 seed California has to go on the road again - this time to #15 seed Baylor.
But at least Baylor is seeded and is one of the unfortunate six who had to go
on the road for a Regional. Northwestern alone among seeded teams has been
forced to play away from home against an unseeded team in a Super Regional. This
p*sses me off.
