The 12th game has been approved starting in 2006 as a permanent addition to the
schedule. The Pac-10 has decided to use the opportunity to go to a full round
robin. There was some talk in the Big 10 to add an additional conference game
but it looks like that won't happen. The 12th game will most likely be an
additional home game with most Big 10 members adding a "guarantee" game against
a beatable opponent who doesn't get a home game in return. Many of them will be
I-AA games since a rule was approved at the same time allowing a win against a
I-AA opponent to be counted each year for bowl purposes instead on one each four
years.
