[NU Sports] My greatest NU moment

I'm damn proud to be a Northwestern alum. I have great memories of my
years there. As for Northwestern sports, I never thought I'd see NU
come out here to L.A. and play in the Rose Bowl, but that fantasy was
realized. It's been fun following the football team over the last ten
years, with most games being televised and with our team having had more
success than we'd known previously. Sharing stories with this list has
always been enjoyable, too.
But now, I have a personal note to share, and it's my happiest NU moment
yet: my daughter Francine was just admitted to Northwestern, and she
will be going there in the fall. I'm both ecstatic and emotional. And
think, while I've been able to see NU football games in person on the
road five or six times over the past dozen years, I've only attended two
home games in person since 1971. That will now change. I've told
Francine I should be good for at least two home games each fall. I'm
already thinking ahead. The fall orientation begins on September 13th.
That means we might as well arrive on September 9th, just in time for
the Northern Illinois game. Then, after getting Francine settled, my
wife and I should have no problem stopping in Tempe for our road game at
Arizona State on the 17th before heading home for Los Angeles. Can't wait!
