[NU Sports] Madness!

Wow - has there ever been a better weekend of basketball? Four games, four
overtime periods! And the "blowout" was an NC-Wisky game that was down to
the final seconds. Madness indeed ... kind of like that NFL quarterfinal
weekend a couple years back where StL/Car, Phi/GB, NE/Ten and KC/Ind all
went to the final seconds. Amazing!

And it has the experts doing some major re-assessing of the Big Ten. Three
Elite Eight teams ... half of the Final Four for the third time in seven
years (six different schools in the last nine years). And just think if
Devin Harris had stayed in Madison. Had the Bucks not been caught cheating
(again), we'd have had six NCAA teams and Indiana made a good case for
seven. Down year? Hah!

I know the schedule's unbalanced and all, but it certainly does put NU's
struggle into perspective about the depth and strength of the conference
overall. Yeah, we had a few setbacks this year, but Carmody is fielding
competitive teams the last couple years and that's a step above the last
few decades.

Oh well - great games to watch and good to see the league get some respect.

Hopefully someday this March stuff will involve NU ...
