[NU Sports] 2006 FB schedule

Saw a mistake in this thread. New Hampshire did NOT lose in the 1-AA
quarterfinals. They won the national 1-AA championship, beating my other
alma mater, the University of Montana Grizzlies. The Griz were a definite
favorite down in Chattanooga last December, but New Hampshire simply out
muscled 'em.

I understand the apprehensions already expressed having NU play a 1-AA team.
They certainly don't have the depth we do. But don't underestimate the
individual talent level. The Grizzlies, for example, have tapped into a
pipeline of QB talent. The latest example was Craig Ochs, last fall's signal
caller. You may recall that he was supposed to be Gary Barnett's salvation
at Colorado. But things didn't work out, and he transferred to Missoula.
Good move. He absolutely blossomed last fall.

Also, it wasn't that long ago that the perennial ruler of the roost in the
Big Sky Conference was another team we keep hearing about -- Boise State.

They play 1-AA ball in the A-10 Conference. That said, I don't know why we
are playing them. I see nothing to be gained by playing 1-AA teams
although most schools seem to be doing it now, especially as we move to a 12
game schedule. However, you can only count a win over a 1-AA school towards
a bowl game once every 4 years so we better not make a steady diet of this.
We would be better off playing Sun Belt schools who don't count against the
one in four rule and don't demand a return game either.
