[NU Sports] 2006 FB schedule

There are couple of interesting things to note, I think, about our upcoming schedules.

First, notice that no schedule features fewer than 6 home games. In the past, we typically alternated years between 1 home nonconference game and 2 home nonconference games. (Of course, in 2002 and 2003 we played a total of 4 nonconference games each year, so we had 2 at home each year, but I'm talking about 2001 and earlier.)

It appears that we are now always scheduling at least 2 home nonconference games.

Then notice that in 2007, if the NCAA allows a 12th game, we will schedule the extra game at home, giving us 3 home nonconference games and a total of 7 home games (that would be a first since I've been a fan). Also notice that if the NCAA does not allow 12 home games in 2006 and 2007, we will drop the road game against Nevada in 2006, but keep the home game against them in 2007.

I remember a discussion a while back about nonconference scheduling. It looks like we're not only trying to schedule a good mix of reasonable and challenging teams, but we're also increasing our number of home games.
