Not exactly news that anyone wanted to hear, that's for sure. It occured
to me that these losses occured in 2 areas that are a concern; the defensive
backfield, and the offensive line.
An idea to ponder....slowly but surely RW has improved depth, particularly
on the line in both sides of the ball. We may need to accept the fact that
we'll be watching players without much experience; guys we don't know much
about.
Think about it. Before he was hurt, Nick Roach was playing as well or
better than McGarigle. I remember questions about Noah Herron, if he could
handle being a full-time starter.
I believe Adam Kadela and David Ngene are players. Were going to find out
how much better RW has built up our depth.
With that said, it's never good to be replacing 4 of 5 offensive line
starters. And Backes looked like he finally was comfortable with playing DB, as
well as being a threat to score on every kick-off. BTW, a big thanks to Jeff
for his efforts, as well as switching to defense for the good of the team.
So, while I'm concerned, I'm not ready to accept the annuals consensus of
a 9th place prognostication. I see BIG problems at Wisconsin (i.e...under
.500 this year; bank on it) , Michigan St, PSU and Minnesota.
Ohio/NU T.V. on ESPNU. Any interest of a quasi-list meeting at a GREAT
sports bar I know outside Philadelphia? The Winners Circle is College Football
H.Q. with over 30 TV's and great food. I watched NU/Indiana basketball game
there last season, as well as tons of football, and I live an hour and a half
away! It's on Pa. route 3 , 2 miles west of Newtown Square, Pa. I've had the
chance to meet other list members on and off throughout the years, and it's
always alot of fun. Plus, it would be nice to watch a game with my fellow
Wildcat brethern.
If interested, let me know, and I'll make the arrangements.
GO CATS!!!!!!!!!! Eric
