We sure gave #1 UCLA a major scare in 1969. The Bruins were on their
way to winning a third straight (out of seven in a row) NCAA titles.
They came into Chicago Stadium with Lew Alcindor (Kareen Abdul-Jabbar)
and company. We couldn't miss in the first half, and we were leading
them 45-35 at the break -- the greatest haltime deficit UCLA ever faced
during Alcindor's three seasons in Westwood. But reality set in during
the second half. The Bruins outscored us, 46-22, for an 81-67 victory.
