[NU Sports] sec bowl foes

I agree that bowl location is more important than who we play and I enjoyed
San Antonio as well. The Alamo Bowl was my first trip to San Antonio and it
was a pleasant surprise how nice the town was and how much fun it was-well,
other than the game of course. My comments about El Paso are second-hand
since I've never been there, but I have yet to hear a good thing about it as
a bowl destination. It's also too far for most NU fans and not easy for most
people to get to without a charter.

You can also strike the IU-UK game from the list of BT-SEC games following
this season, I believe. The contract runs out after this year, I believe,
and they have decided not to renew it at least until the 12 game schedule
becomes permanent.

The only reason the Big Ten might play SEC teams is
that it's relatively rare for BT teams to play SEC
teams in non-league games. Indiana-Kentucky happens
each year, but other than that, I cannot remember too
many BT-SEC regular-season games. I kind of like
seeing BT teams play (to me) unfamiliar foes such as
Alabama and Mississippi (but if I lived the South as
Mr. Ament does I might well differ).

On the other hand, almost every BT team plays Pac-10
teams in non-league games so bowl games with PAC-10
teams have more chances of being rematches.

I do feel that bowl location is much more important
than who we play. While I would have gladly gone to El
Paso had the Cats gone there, I know many people were
cool to the idea, and I also know Wisconsin fans who
disliked El Paso intensely when they went there. I'd
lobby for a hookup in a place to visit that might be
fun (my tastes in this are not typical, I grant; I
disliked Orlando but loved San Antonio) such as San
Francisco.
