Well, most of us thought the Liberty and Citrus bowls would be the two
games to watch this bowl season ... and neither disappointed.
What an incredible game in Orlando! Drew Tate may indeed be the new Flutie.
And is there a better coach than Ferentz in the nation? Three straight
10-win seasons with three entirely new backfields on offense (well more
than three backfields this year alone!) - just an amazing job done by
someone who's already making the bumblebee fans say "Hayden who?"
So it's at best a .500 bowl season for the Big Ten -- big wins over the SEC
and Big XII and Michigan could make it two apiece by defeating Texas in the
quasi-Rose Bowl. And while Purdue's loss was disappointing and Wisconsin's
expected, both put up game efforts. So a solid postseason for the league
overall -- certainly as good if not better than the rest of the big
conferences.
Bowl excitement finally arrived yesterday and today -- now leave it to the
B(C)S to kill the buzz.:) Though you could make an interesting side wager
on what song will be played most in the BCS ...
__ Hail to the Victors!
__ The Eyes of Texas
__ Boomer Sooner
__ That Damn Three Note Song from USC (and yes, that's the official title:) )
As ABC switches to quasi-Rose Bowl coverage, I already hear those darned
eyes of Texas smiling ... so they take the early lead.:)
What a great game in Orlando ... now back to 364 days of Hawkeye hatred.:)
Go Big Ten!
GO CATS!!!
