First, the bad news:
New Mexico State and Penn State aren't mediocre teams. They're awful teams.
-NMSU is 3-19 with an RPI of 300. Woof.
-PSU is 6-16 with an RPI of 223.
Now, the good news:
Utah State and Ohio State on the other hand are decent teams. Teams
Northwestern could have and *should* have beaten (especially with the
way the OSU game ended) but not mediocre.
Utah State is 18-6 with an RPI of 81. They may not be Utah, but they
did *beat* Utah 71-45.
Two of their six losses came to Pacific, one in double OT, one at the buzzer.
Ohio State is 17-8 with an RPI of 57.

>We were close. If we had beaten 4 mediocre teams (New Mex St, Utah St, Penn
>State and Ohio State) we'd be 16-8 with a good chance at 19 wins with a 1st
