Perhaps.  About half of the time that the OC or DC are fired by the
head coach it is in a desperate attempt by the head coach to keep his
own neck from going on the chopping block.  

Sometimes it works, sometimes it only postpones the firing of the head
coach for a year.  At Nebraska, it did both!

Having a client in TN I tend to hear a lot more chatter about the Vols 
than I used to, and Fulmer was/is DEFINITELY in trouble.  I don't think 
he'll survive another bowl-less season.

I suspect that the way NU lost to UCLA used up a bunch of the political
capital that RW got by taking the Cats to a bowl game.  Whether that's
enough to force him to make some coaching changes remains to be seen, I
think he's still got enough capital left to survive another couple of
years, especially since next year is likely to be like Baz's freshman
year.
