But overall in his career, doesn't he have a winning
percentage? I don't think you'll find a coach at NU
who has a winning mark through seven years.

Actually four - 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005

Disappointing? Yes. But the Huskers were preseason #1
that year and slipped to the Alamo. And in the other
two, we were competitive while facing a higher-place
finisher from the conference than we were.

I wouldn't say six of seven - we've had some good
return games especially, as well as good kickers
during his span.

Do you know if Walker discontinued it or if it was
discontinued by someone else's decision -- perhaps
that it was not gaining enough viewers in a market
where NU fans are outnumbered by almost every other
Big Ten school.

I think results speak for themselves. His first four
years, he took someone else's recruits, installed a
new offense and defense and still won a league title.
Now that he has his system in, he has three straight
6-win seasons, two straight 5-3 league finishes in the
upper half of a tough conference and has done this
with three different running backs. Are there problems
on defense and special teams? Yes. But if you were a
Big Ten AD and you were looking at a coach who had
accomplished all this at Northwestern, you'd be a fool
not to hire him.
