[NU Sports] Consistency Should be Rewarded

I beg to differ - I don't blame the defense for this defeat, as it was the defense that essentially gave us a three touchdown lead & provided many clutch stops that gave our offense possessions that it was unable to capitalize on vs. a UCLA defense whose season was comparable to ours.

This defeat, in my opinion, was attributable to a breakdown on special teams and a very disappointing offense that piled up yardage, but not points until the two touchdowns very late when a miracle was needed.

Without getting into the causes of the problems or placing blame on any players or coaches, my view is that the offense & special teams units didn't live up to what was needed for a win & the defense did. Sure, UCLA's vaunted offense scored points and piled up yardage, but the defense did as well or better than we could've expected.

Happy New Year to everyone & thanks to the Cats for their heart and the excitement they gave us!

With the exception of this season's Michigan State game, the defense has been consistent each game for the past five years. For this consistency, the defensive coaches should all be rewarded with lifetime contracts. Go Cats.
