[NU Sports] Big Trouble At Texas

Texas hasn't had any scandals or off the field incidents in years, but 
they've got one now. Here's a link on this story which broke Friday evening:

It will be interesting to see what happens. From what I've been reading, the 
first incident in September, which involved a hand gun, involved Michael 
Houston, a reserve running back who (coincidentally?) announced his transfer from 
UT today. The second incident, which involves Cedric Griffin and Ramonce 
Taylor, two starters, has been described as nothing more than heated trash talking 
or as much as assault (a fight) and robbery (of five dollars).

In any case, this is going to be a monumental distraction as the team 
prepares for the Rose Bowl. The national media will be all over this tomorrow. My 
personal feeling is that if there is any hint that these allegations have merit, 
the kids involved ought to be thrown off the team immediately. Talk about 
stupidity. Forget about the alleged assault and robbery. Staying out till 3:00 AM 
and getting drunk after a berth in the national championship game is already 
secured.
