Jeff, get ready for some double-disappointment (look more closely at Roy's
message below--we don't play tOSU either in 2009 or 2010)! :) -Joe

I am very disappointed that Michigan is coming off our schedule.
It may not be the rivalry game that Illinois is, but it has been the
benchmark game for our team since 1995. Our path to BT championships has
been through Michigan. Also I think that, over the last ten years, we have
created a tradition of mutual respect based on some really well played
games.
Now, I assume, our path to BT championships in 2009 and 2010 will be through
OSU. Don't get me wrong. I look forward to beating OSU every time that we
play them, but I am excited whenever anyone beats OSU. I don't feel the
same way about Michigan.
I think Joe Pa expressed similar disappointment when UoM dropped off their
schedule for a couple of years.
Jeff

The Big Ten released the 2009 and 2010 schedules today and there were two
very interesting aspects to the Cats schedules for those seasons. One: we
don't play Michigan or Ohio State. Two: we play Wisconsin on the last day
of the season both years and Illinois on the next to last day. I don't
remember another season in which the Illinois game was not the last game of
the regular season unless we went to Hawai'i. I don't know what was the
rationale in the scheduling office for moving the game but it will be weird
not to end the season beating Illinois. Mark
